Hoop Dreams
You know what?... I'm tired of jumping through hoops. You don't know how many emails I've gotten like the one below...

Dear Brandon,
We're looking for an illustrator for a picture book - and I think you may be a good candidate for the project. Do you have printed samples to send me? I'd like to run more than a website past the editor.

...So, I go ahead and go to Kinkos (which is punishment enough), print out my best work, and mail it to them. Not only is this expensive, it's taxing to my soul. Every time I think... "this is it, finally, I'm going to get my foot in the door." Then I get an email saying they aren't sure about me because I've never had a book published. Great. Here we go again.
As much as it disappoints me each time, I keep plugging away, I keep jumping through those hoops because one day I know it will pay off. Someone will believe in me and take a chance on me.
