Magic is this week's subject. OOOOoooo! Be amazed at the illusion that I have mastered! How does he do it? Does he dislodge his own thumb? I'll never tell.
Ahh. Illustration Friday again. My oasis at the end of the week. This week's subject is 'home'. I kind of cheated on this one. I've used an exising illustration but tweeked it. It's a spread from a children's book that I've been trying to get published for the past year.
I went to NY and met with art directors from Greenwillow (HarperCollins) and Hyperion last November. The art director from Hyperion didn't seem too impressed with my work. She said my spreads (the one I'm posting now) was too 'slick'. The art director from Greenwillow seemed to really like my stuff, but alas I've yet to illustrate a children's book.
When I saw that this week's subject was home, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to start re-working my book, since my book is called 'The Perfect Home'.
This week's illustration friday subject is adoption. My beautiful wife was adopted from Korea, so I felt compelled to illustrate something about her. Adoption is a wonderful thing... If it weren't for adoption, I would never have met my wife.
This week's illustration friday assignment was 'security'. I had a tough time coming up with something. I didn't want to do anything with a lock or safe, because I already saw some illustrations like that already up. Darn you early birds!
So I just started doodling and somehow came up with a running bunny. It may be a bit of a stretch... but I had a fun time doing it.
